And the winner is...Jack Creek Steakhouse!

Lehigh Valley InSite

My son Jimmy is home from college for a couple days so of course he's conned me into taking him out to eat a few times. We did our traditional sushi lunch last week, so on Monday we hit Jack Creek Steakhouse. After all, they just recently gave Lehigh Valley national attention by winning the "Ultimate Hometown Grill Off" competition on "Live with Regis and Kelly".

Knowing that Jack Creek always has great offers, I looked around for coupons. I found one for $10 off $45 purchase, $6 off $30 and $3 off $15 in the Lehigh Valley Map & Guide...

Regis and Kelly program chooses Jack Creek steakhouse for 'grill off' competition

Lots of places say they make a great steak dinner, but Jack Creek Steakhouse and Cantina in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, has "Live with Regis and Kelly" saying the same thing.

The syndicated TV talk show is hosting "Ultimate Hometown Grill Off," and Jack Creek was voted the winner in the steak category. The prize for owners John and Donna Meacham and their son, general manager Nathan Meacham, includes an appearance on the show Friday.

Nathan Meacham will appear on the show to prepare the restaurant's hand-carved filet mignon, sauteed veggies and red-skinned mashed potatoes.

"Oh my God, this is awesome," said front-side restaurant manager Sharon Slutter. "I can't believe we won."

The appearance was announced on this morning's "Live" program. Slutter said the restaurant was contacted about its nomination about three weeks ago and was required to produce a one-minute video. Jack Creek officials learned last week they were finalists in the steak category, and voting took place over the weekend. Slutter said restaurant servers donned "I voted" tags over the weekend in a campaign to help get out the vote.

The hour-long TV show airs locally on ABC and begins at 9 a.m.

The "Live" Web site describes the contest:

We're putting on a nation wide search for the best grill dish and we need your help! Do you have a food establishment (restaurant, caterer, food cart, etc.) in your town with a grill dish so fantastic it is worthy of the "Ultimate Hometown Grill Recipe" title?

Winners get premium exposure and a chance "to grill their amazing recipe on Live, compete for the coveted 'Ultimate Hometown Grill Recipe' title, and appear in an upcoming issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine," according to the Web site.

Slutter said a pair of regular lunch customers nominated the family-owned restaurant.
